Frederick Ndabaramiye’s Colorado Visit

Frederick Ndabaramiye’s visit to Colorado and I am Able short documentary premiere

Frederick Ndabaramiye’s infamous and contagious smile has been sighted by many new friends along the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
Pedal Born Picture’s short documentary film, called ‘I am Able,’ brought Frederick to Colorado and all those that have had chance to meet him can’t help but falling in love with him and his indomitable spirit. The documentary premiered last weekend at the Telluride Mountainfilm Festival and had grand reviews! Having Frederick there in person made it even more special and we were delighted to see him called up on stage at the awards ceremony twice. Congratulations to Frederick and I am Able on the ‘moving mountains’ award!
During the festival, Frederick shared even more of his stories, smiles and vision for his I am Able foundation at multiple film screenings, a morning coffee talk, book signing and ice cream social. With all the great events that Telluride and the Moutainfilm festival crew offered, Frederick was alway surrounded by new friends. He was even invited to ride a few different type of bikes than he’s been used to riding in the past. The crew from Rider and the Wolf shared their brothers bike for an honorable big wheel ride and David Holbroke, director of the film fest was kind enough to hook up the whole I am Able crew for a last minute fat tire bike ride up towards Bridal Falls.
Thanks to all of the Mountainfilm crew and new friends that welcomed Frederick to Colorado and continue to share their passions with him! The snow, ice cream and margaritas were a hit, but he is mostly overwhelmed by all the kind and fun people who have opened their hearts and joined him in some of the fun activities ranging from biking to hiking, sight seeing, glass blowing,  games of horseshoes and corn hole, rafting and (hopefully in two days) skiing and/or snowboarding. Thank you to ALL who have helped show Frederick a Colorado good time!
Before sharing a few images of Frederick’s Colorado adventure, we’d like to invite you to join us at his next scheduled event.

Meet Rwandan genocide survivor and I am Able co-founder, Frederick Ndabaramiye. As a young boy, Frederick witnessed and lived through one of the worst genocides in history. Four years after, at the age of 15, he was attacked by Interahamwe rebels who severely beat him, cut off his arms and left him for dead. Amidst a long recovery, Frederick sets off on an
inspiring path of courage, determination, forgiveness and hope.
Today, Frederick is an artist, world speaker, co-director of Ubumwe Community Center, and the co-founder of I am Able.
I am Able is a handicap cycling team on a mission to spread the message, throughout the world, that disability is not an inability. We are ALL able.
